The African-American Chapter of the Alumni Association at the University of Missouri-St. Louis will host its 2nd Annual Black Repertory Scholarship Fundraising Gala on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at the Grandel Square Theatre, 3601 Grandel Square. The evening of excitement will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception sponsored by Vantage Credit Union, followed by the award-winning St. Louis Black Repertory Company’s production of Dreamgirls at 8 p.m.

The theme for this year’s gala is Fulfilling the Dream and that’s exactly what the African-American Chapter strives to do for deserving African-American students at the university.

In 2004, The University of Missouri established a scholarship matching program to “enhance access and opportunity for students.” During the program year, individuals and organizations that raised a minimum of $15,000 in scholarship funds received a matching $15,000 from the University.

Gracious supporters of this year’s fundraising campaign are Honorary Co-Chairs, Mike Jones, St. Louis County Head of Communications and Policy, and Kathy Conley-Jones, President of the Conley Financial Group. Mike Jones received the 2004 UM-St. Louis Distinguished Alumni Award for his contributions to the university and the St. Louis community. General Chairpersons of the Black Rep Scholarship Gala are Linda Brown Reed, Doris M. Coleman and Hubert H. Hoosman, Jr.

Tickets for the Fulfilling the Dream gala and reception are $50.00.
