Harold Kumke honored for community relations
Harold Kumke, who teaches speech, English, acting, and world literature at Soldan International Studies High School, has won the Met Life Foundation Ambassadors in Education award. He’s being singled out for his efforts to build relationships between his school and the surrounding community. Kumke says he shares the award with the entire school.
Soldan High School also received a $5,000 grant to continue bridging the gap between the school and the community.
Shawn Fields, a Financial Services Representative of MetLife, presented the award and is going to teach the high school students how to manage their budgets in the fall.
Fields believes that volunteering his time to help the students learn how to manage their money now may save them from financial issues and debt issues in their futures.
