Voices for Children, the only legal services organization to provide direct service to abused and neglected children in St. Louis’ foster care system, is accepting applications for the next volunteer training program.

The not-for-profit organization matches trained community volunteers with children’s lawyers to expedite vital services for abused and neglected children. Volunteers, who become sworn officers of the court, work with legal supervisors to protect children’s rights during their time in foster care.

Volunteer child advocates participate in a five-week training program in which they learn about courtroom procedure, juvenile law, the child welfare system, and how to meet the special needs of abused and neglected children.

The training will be conducted at the St. Louis City Juvenile Court Building on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, August 16 through September 15. No experience required. Advocates must be 21 years of age.

Call Meg Feely at (314) 552-2516 for an application. For information, visit voicesforchildrenstl.org.
