Check out the “2005 United Way Summer Volunteer Guide for Youth,” developed by the United Way of Greater St. Louis Volunteer Center and sponsored by the St. Louis Rams.
The free 50-page guide can be obtained by calling the United Way’s Volunteer Center at (314) 539-4063 or from the United Way’s website at PledgeUnitedway.org.
Listed are more than 120 summer volunteer opportunities for youth, age 8-19, at more than 50 area agencies or organizations. The directory also lists 14 other ways that young people can help others in the community that aren’t necessarily related to working with an organization.
More than 13 million young people nationally are becoming volunteers, providing more than 2.4 billion hours of service each year.
