Artificial intelligence is reshaping industries everywhere—including journalism. At The St. Louis American, we’re exploring how AI tools might support our newsroom’s mission: to inform, empower, and uplift our community with trusted, high-quality reporting.

But as we experiment with these new tools, we want to do so in a way that earns and keeps your trust.

That’s why we’re participating in a national reader survey, “How should newsrooms use AI?”, in partnership with the Local Media Association’s AI Community Journalism Lab and Trusting News.

The survey is open from Sunday, Aug. 3 through Saturday, Aug. 16.

It’s short, anonymous, and your voice matters.

We invite you to share your thoughts, questions, and concerns about AI in journalism. Your feedback will directly inform how The St. Louis American approaches AI—ensuring we use it responsibly, transparently, and in service to you.
