The Food Stamp program is vital to all of Missouri

Within the next year the food stamp program, part of the farm bill, will be going through a reauthorization process by the Federal Government. Hearings have already begun across the country, including a hearing in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to discuss the aspects of the farm bill. The food stamp program is vital to the State of Missouri. In Missouri the food stamp program helps 795,963 people/ 299,351 households from going hungry; it also brings $60,678,047 to Missouri businesses and Missouri’s farmers every month. Food stamps help create a healthier and stronger Missouri. Senator Jim Talent and Representative Joann Emerson have been supportive of this program in the past and we hope as the reauthorization process moves forward that Missouri can count on their continued support to make the process of reauthorization painless and beneficial for all Missourians.
