Although George Curry’s recent commentary proves that America would be less technologically advanced without some influential African Americans, it does not fully discuss the public’s response to William Bennett’s comment that the “crime rate would drop if all black babies were aborted.”
Not only do I think Bennett is ignorant for thinking such a thing, which cannot be proven, but I am surprised he would be so bold as to share an outrageous comment like this! Since Bennett’s comment was not based on research and studies, it probably stems from ignorance and racism. The African-American community needs to speak out more if these kind of statements and ideas are to be abolished.
