Congratulations to Sandi Colquitt and her campaign committee for a valiant effort in the recent Missouri state representative 72nd District election. Colquitt withstood a barrage of attacks from local radio talk show hosts who questioned her credibility and support from the Orthodox Jewish community. Colquitt was also unfairly characterized as being “unfit” by former State Rep. Sheila Lumpe. Supporters of her opponent, such as Lumpe and Harriett Woods, have never championed the interests of African Americans. Colquitt was not the loser in the election. The African Americans in the 72nd district lost.
