State Senator Jim Lembke (R-
Lemay) was one of a few state legislators who opposed an extension
of unemployment benefits for unemployed workers. He explained this
was to teach the federal government a lesson about overspending.

On June 1, a Cole County Judge struck down the St. Louis firefighter law.
