“Parents and guardians who have dropped out of their children’s educational lives must drop back in and become active partners in the education of their children.” This sentence from Walle A. Amusa’s column is the single most important reason education of our young blacks is failing. Yet, I think all of you ignore the fact that the importance of attitudes about school among the young. No matter the excellence of teachers, equipment and learning materials, where there is no caregiver participation or discipline, children will always take the easy way out and that spells F-A-I-L-U-R-E. If the majority of the caregivers don’t give a damn, neither will their kids. Just how do you plan to change that?
