Missouri is an employment-at-will state. That means, except for discrimination, your employer can fire you for no reason, or even the wrong reason, and you have no legal redress. If you think your employer discriminated against you, you can file a complaint with the EEOC; but you should do that first before having a lawyer contact your employer. Then, if you are fired, you can claim they fired you to retaliate against you for filing a discrimination complaint. The worst thing Daphne Jones could have done was to have a lawyer come to her job to talk to her employer before filing a discrimination complaint – and that lawyer should have known better.
