There is no denying what we see on American TV these days. Racism is alive and well in our country like slavery was yesterday. To daily watch our people die in the land of plenty is an embarrassment of epic proportions. To watch our government’s lack of compassion and understanding for the needs of starving people while hiding under the pretense of dangerous conditions is more than shameful. More than the stench of death in the city of New Orleans, this reeks of prejudice and racism on the part of our government. To see families and children not being fed for days on end is a frightening sight for me and my children of color to see.
