I work at Newton Rest Haven, a nursing home in Newton, which is a small community in southern Illinois. Like many other health care providers, we are having difficulty getting the state of Illinois to pay us what is owed to us for our services that have been rendered. We are taking care of your loved ones, with our employees often bringing in things for the residents from their own homes, out of their own pockets, because the state of Illinois is not paying their bills.

We received a check from the state of Illinois in June, which paid for our services through the month of January. What are we supposed to tell our vendors who supply us with linen, food, electricity, etc., who do not want to wait six months for their money?

Please help by calling, e-mailing, or writing to your area senator, representative, and write to the governor’s office at: Office of the Governor, 207 State House, Springfield, IL. 62706, or e-mail Governor Rod R. Blagojevich at governor@state.il.us, and let them know that the state of Illinois should be held accountable, just as we are, to pay the bills.
