I read Dr. Michael Railey’s article “Bling-bling can be bad for your kid’s health.” You stated, “I said I was against this practice, both for medical reason and for spiritual reasons, which were harder to explain.” I am curious as how your knowledge of hip-hop culture pertains to religion.

I’m 30 years old, and have been saved for three years. Growing up, I wanted to be a female rapper and a model. There was one particular group, X-Clan, that I loved. The woman in the group was called Isis. She had a bullring in her nose. I wanted one so bad, but never had the chance to have it done, so I compromised and put a fake one in my nose. I can’t tell you now why I even wanted it, other than that I thought it would look cool. I made sincere efforts to get piercing and tattoos, but God never allowed for it, and I now thank him for that, for the very reasons that you have mentioned.

Have you heard of a minister named Craig Lewis? He has a ministry devoted to breaking down hip-Hop and its relationship to Christianity. The title of the DVD is The Truth Behind Hip-Hop by Craig Lewis. I pray that you and your family continue in God’s favor.
