I enjoyed Alvin A. Reid’s article regarding the memorial service for Judge Cahill at the U.S. District Court. He was one of my great heroes, inspiring me to go on to work at Legal Services. He also gave me great advice throughout my career at Legal Aid.

Your article captured the essence of a great man. It also gave credit to another great man in Senator Eagleton. Without Senator Eagleton and his extraordinary commitment to justice, Judges McMillian nor Cahill would have become federal judges. Senator Eagleton broke the color barrier in Jefferson City with George Draper’s father, who was George Draper Jr., as his assistant attorney general when Eagleton was the attorney general of the state of Missouri.

Again, thank you for your superb journalism and astute observations at Judge Cahill’s memorial service.

Judge Rick Teitelman
