While the media stories and images of Jews being forcibly removed from the Gaza Strip are heartwrenching, we must never forget the pain and desolation suffered by millions of Palestinians when they were forcibly uprooted from their homes and businesses when land that they had owned for generations suddenly became the property of a newly created nation named Israel.
As our hearts naturally go out to those Jewish settlers being removed, let us not lose sight of the fact that their land is not being taken. Rather, it is being given back to its rightful owners.
