Many children and school districts are failing because teachers are not only responsible for teaching children, they must also be counselors, hygiene monitors, nutritionists and authorities on neglected and abused children. Children failing in school is often attributable to the lack of social skills training, motivation and monitoring from parents.
Our schools must be allowed to concentrate on education and the responsibility to take appropriate measures to correct serious and repeated student misbehavior is a parental obligation. Parents should be required to take proper action to remedy the serious and repeated misconduct of their children, including any counseling or treatment a child requires. Parents who are not willing or able to correct the disruptive behavior of their children should be referred by school counselors to the Circuit Court for neglect or parental incompetence proceedings.
It has become socially and legally acceptable for unmarried girls (women?) to earn money, receive housing and get other benefits from producing babies. Unfortunately, many young girls are not emotionally or mentally prepared to properly undertake the all-consuming responsibility of taking care of babies and raising children alone.
Parents must teach their children basic social skills, motivate them to learn, monitor the child’s progress, teach personal hygiene, insure that children are well nourished and get enough sleep to avoid lethargy and sleepiness in school.
