I would like to applaud Jabari Asim for “When Pharmacists Just Say No.” I was shocked and appalled to learn that some pharmacists refuse to distribute contraceptives to customers.
When a prescription is at the point of being filled, it is a decision that has been made between doctor and patient, and pharmacists have no say in the matter.
These so-called “Pharmacists for Life” should consider that most women filling a prescription for contraceptives, especially Plan B emergency contraception, are trying to prevent pregnancy. Withholding contraception could cause a woman to have an unwanted pregnancy, which could very likely lead to her having an abortion. Isn’t that a situation that Pro-Lifers would like to prevent?
