I wholeheartedly agree with the St. Louis Public Library’s designation as the No. 1 library system in the country. In addition to books, they offer a wide array of services such as videos, books on tape, story time, teen activities, and public computers. Another great asset is the number of locations. They are accessible from virtually every part of the city. With the renovations of many of the branches, their commitment of service to the community is evident.

Wherever I live or work, I always tap into the nearest library. As a young single mother, I would take my daughter to the Julia Davis Branch for an economical outing that was also educational. We would participate in story time, check out books, and take home movies. As a result of those early experiences, she has developed a love of reading and writing short stories.

As our family has grown, my husband and I continue to take our children to the library. Even though I now live in St. Louis County, through the libraries’ reciprocal agreement, in addition to my St. Louis County Library card, I still carry and utilize my St. Louis Public Library card.
