I’ve admired Alvin Reid since I first saw him on Donnybrook. I don’t always agree with his opinion, but I certainly respect it. I would describe myself as a white moderate conservative.
I found his article on the tragedy in Meachum Park to be quite refreshing. I knew Sergeant William McEntee casually from my church here in South County and, along with the fact that my younger brother is a police detective in the city of St. Louis, I was heartbroken at the news of this horrible tragedy.
I agree that the Post focused exclusively on a race issue. The column by Sylvester Brown did nothing but anger me. It suggested that this shooting could somehow be justified. I reject such nonsense.
I’ve bookmarked your site and look forward to reading more of Alvin’s work.
