Thanks for the story and support of “Athlete of the Week” Chris Upchurch. However, Chris actually finished second at state during his sophomore year. Also, Chris and his father Jay Bordeaux (former 145 state champion) are the first African-American father/son state championship winners. Chris began his wrestling career with little league exposure through the Royal Knights Wrestling (the only AA wrestling program) headed up by Coach Jimmy Miller and assistant coached by Jay Bordeaux.
