The unclaimed property pages published in The St. Louis American last week and this week are an official public notice from the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office to help people find money or property that may belong to them.
Unclaimed property can include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance benefits, utility deposits, wages, refunds and other financial assets that were turned over to the state after the owner could not be located.
Readers are encouraged to review the listing carefully for their own name, the name of a family member or the name of a business. If you find a possible match, follow the instructions in the listing to file a claim with the Missouri State Treasurer’s Office.
There is no charge to search for or claim unclaimed property through the state, and there is no need to pay a third party to help you recover money or property that may rightfully belong to you.
