An early morning highway crash involving a tractor-trailer has ended with two women dead and one woman critically injured. A fourth woman was hurt, but her injuries are not considered life threatening.
The crash was reported about 3:45 a.m. today, on eastbound Interstate 55-70 at I-64.
According to police, the women were coming off of the ramp from St. Clair Avenue, merging onto 55-70, and a tractor-trailer on the interstate apparently hit the side of their car.
Three of the four women were thrown from the vehicle. One woman who was thrown died; the lone woman who stayed in the vehicle also died.
Police say that the driver of the tractor-trailer had no injuries.
