The Major Case Squad was called in today to help investigate the case of a young man found dead Tuesday night on the edge of Lindenwood University in St. Charles.
Details were sketchy early today. Spokesman Gerry Pollard of the St. Charles Police Department confirmed the discovery and said that the victim was a young man in his 20s. But he declined to confirm that the man had died of a gunshot wound.
He said the Major Case Squad would be making a statement later this morning.
Lindenwood spokesman Scott Queen said this morning that police had told him at 2 a.m. that the victim was not a student at the university.
KTVI-TV reported that the body had been found dead of gunfire in a red car that had its engine running and its lights on. KSDK-TV quoted police as saying they thought the victim had not been shot on campus.
The incident happened about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday.
