The four St. Louis-area Casa Gallardo restaurants closed effective immediately yesterday evening.
A spokesman for Real Mex Restaurants Inc. said company personnel made the announcement of the closure in person on Thursday afternoon. Real Mex Restaurants employs 16 full-time store managers and 200 part-time servers and cooks.
The four restaurants were the last of the Casa Gallardo restaurants nationwide. The decision to close the restaurants stemmed from the on-going economic downturn, according to the company.
According to KMOV.com, some of the managers who were laid-off will be offered jobs with local Chevy’s restaurants – which is also owned by Real Mex Restaurants. Other workers are said to be being offered a chance to relocate to west coast locations.
