(CNN) — Cleveland police Officer Michael Brelo will remain on unpaid suspension until a review committee completes its investigation of him and 12 other officers who were involved in the fatal shootings of Timothy Russell and Malissa Williams in 2012, Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams said.
The review of these 13 officers were on hold during criminal proceedings against Brelo.
Williams said he would recommend departmental punishment, which can include firing, after the investigation is done. The public “can be assured that we … will make sure that any and all violations of our policies and procedures will be dealt with,” Williams said.
