Devon Alexander’s quick rise up the welterweight rankings will be stalled for at least two months because of a broken hand suffered in his bout last Thursday at The Spotlight.

“Yep, it’s busted,” trainer and Round 1 Productions manager Kevin Cunningham told the American.

“It is his left hand, but that is his power hand because he fights as a southpaw.”

Alexander won an easy decision in his sixth-round bout over Seth Hebenstreit of Omaha, Neb., to move to 8-0, but it was costly in that he suffered the injury.

“That guy had a hard head,” Cunningham said.

Alexander was set to return to Ls Vegas to resume his role as Floyd Mayweather’s main sparring partner.

“It’s too bad it happened, but we’ll be back,” said Cunningham.
