Roderick G. “Rod” King, a.k.a. Dr. Jockenstein died this morning at St. Anthony’s Medical Center. He was 55.
Jockenstein never recovered from the massive stroke he suffered back in 2002.
He worked at radio stations throughout his more than 30 years on the air, with his final job at KMJM-FM (Majic 104.9) before he fell ill, where he hosted the Slammin’ Jammin’ Oldies Show on Saturday afternoons.
He was known throughout the St. Louis and radio community and had a fan base that was well into the thousands and served as a mentor to many of the up and coming DJ’s in the area.
