E. Stanley O’Neal, chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch, one of the world’s leading financial management firms with client assets of $1.8 trillion, will speak during the St. Louis Minority Business Council Business Opportunity Fair Hall of Fame luncheon at noon Thursday June 23 at America’s Center.

O’Neal, a Harvard University graduate and former General Motors executive, became chief executive of the company in December 2002 and was elected chairman in April 2003. He has held a series of increasingly responsible positions since joining the company in 1986 as vice president of investment banking. He was named president and chief operating officer in July 2001 and served as president of Merrill Lynch’s U.S. Private Client group from February 2000 until July 2001.

He served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Merrill Lynch from 1998 until 2000 and also held the position of executive vice president and co-head of the Corporate and Institutional Client Group (now Global Markets & Investment Banking) prior to that.
