One of the two inmates who escaped from the Lincoln County jail is back in custody.According to the US Marshal’s office, they captured John Wesley Jones around 5 a.m. yesterday (Tues., Nov. 16). He was hiding in the attic of a home. The second escapee is still on the run.

Jones is a suspect in the potentially multimillion-dollar summer heist of an ATM-servicing business. He escaped Monday with another federal prisoner from an eastern Missouri jail, touching off a manhunt for the escapees who authorities warn could be armed and dangerous.

John Wesley Jones, 36, managed to make his way with Corey Durand Cross, 31, out of the Lincoln County lockup in Troy — about 60 miles northwest of St. Louis, both men’s hometown — by climbing to the jail’s roof before scaling down a 30-foot wall, sheriff’s Capt. Kurt Venneman said.

The U.S. Marshal Service said the search for Cross is still underway.
