According to NewsChannel 5, sources close to the station are saying that the FBI is investigating former Vashon High School basketball coach Floyd Irons. The reason behind the investigation is unclear, but everything suggests no stone is being left unturned.

It is being said that literally anything that has a reference to Irons — including memos, e-mails and telephone records — is being turned over to the FBI.

Irons spent more than 30 years at Vashon where his record on the basketball court was considered legendary.

In July 2006, the longtime coach was removed from his post and forced to defend his reputation amid lawsuits and accusations involving St. Louis School Board President Veronica O’Brien.

Earlier this month, the school board voted to allow Irons to again coach in the district.

District administrators, school board members and other staffers had until last week to turn over numerous documents, said sources. Reportedly, Irons’ personnel file has also been requested.

Irons’ attorney Jerome Dobson said neither he nor his client know anything about the investigation.

The probe comes just days after the Missouri State Board of Education voted 5-1 to take away the accreditation of the St. Louis Public School District.
