Rev. Michael Jones, senior pastor of Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church, has been elected to the Midwest BankCentre Legal Board of Directors.
As senior pastor of the 12,000-member church, Rev. Jones oversees religious services and leads the church’s economic development and community outreach efforts. The church is located at 5553 Dr. Martin Luther King Drive in the Wells-Goodfellow community of north St. Louis. Under the auspices of its Robert Fulton Community Development, Inc., the church has invested more than $100 million in revitalizing areas bordering its campus since 1996.
Rev. Jones earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Columbia College in Columbia, MO, and his master’s degree in general theology studies from Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis.
Friendly Temple and Midwest BankCentre forged a partnership in early 2016 for a new bank branch at the church’s campus. The bank’s sixth St. Louis City branch will feature two indoor teller stations, customer computer kiosks, and a community meeting room with a big-screen TV, free WiFi and a whiteboard. Two drive-up banking lanes will be added, one of which will host a 24-hour ATM.
Midwest BankCentre has been a mainstay of St. Louis community banking for 110 years. Currently, it ranks among St. Louis’ largest locally owned banks with assets of about $1.8 billion and deposits of $1.3 billion. It provides integrated financial services with expertise in commercial, retail and digital banking; business treasury management; mortgage lending; consumer lending; and insurance. The bank is a local leader in the St. Louis Regional Unbanked Task Force and its Bank-On Save-Up St. Louis initiative. Since 2001, Midwest BankCentre has consecutively achieved the Bauer Financial 5-Star Superior financial rating each quarter.
