The American Nurses Association (ANA) recently appointed Michael D. Ward, PhD, RTR, FASRT, vice dean for student affairs and diversity and professor at Goldfarb School of Nursing, as a public member on the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Board of Directors.

“I am honored to serve as a public member on the ANCC board and contribute to the growth and advancement of their programs,” said Ward. “I look forward to sharing insights that come from years of experience in higher education, radiologic sciences and health care.”

ANCC, a subsidiary of ANA, is the world’s largest nursing credentialing organization. ANCC has both organizational and individual programs including: ANCC Accreditation Program, ANCC Certification Program, Pathway to Excellence® Program, and the Magnet Recognition Program®. ANCC is the only nurse credentialing organization to successfully achieve ISO 9001:2008 certification.

“ANA values the time and commitment from talented volunteers like Dr. Ward,” said Pamela F. Cipriano, PhD, RN NEA-BC, FAAN, president of ANA, the nation’s largest nurse organization representing the interests of the nation’s 3.1 million registered nurses. “His contributions on the ANCC board will help strengthen the nursing profession.”

Ward’s two-year term began on January 1, 2015.
