Jefferson City – Gov. Jay Nixon issued the following statement today, on the national and Missouri observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day:
“Dr. King’s enduring legacy was one of taking stands that required leadership and courage. The United States of America is a better country because of the change he helped bring, both to the laws of our country and in the hearts of his fellow Americans.
“On this day when millions of Americans are also honoring Dr. King by engaging in the King National Day of Service, we can best commemorate his life by continuing the work to make our nation a better place for all its citizens.”
