Halls Ferry Elementary School will remain closed on Wednesday, May 11, after a kiln in the art department overheated and caught fire at the school Monday evening.
The fire was contained to the art closet; however, smoke and soot spread through parts of the building.
School was canceled on Tuesday to access and address the damages.
A professional cleaning and restoration crew has been working with district facilities staff to ensure that building will be safe for students and staff.
 In the interest of the safety of our students, school will be closed again tomorrow, Wednesday, May 11. According to a news release from the Ferguson-Florissant School District, the cleanup will be complete so that students may return to school on Thursday, May 12.
