A historic heat wave will make its way to the St. Louis Metro area towards the end of the week. Triple digit temperatures haven’t arrived in the region so early in the summer in more than 50 years.
The heat will continue to build into the area and may peak on Thursday with a high temperature forecast of 106 – the hottest temperature ever recorded during the month of June since 1874.
In addition, the forecast calls for high temperatures to remain above 100 degrees into the weekend. St. Louis has not recorded three consecutive days at or above 100 degrees in the month of June since 1954.
