The Riverview Gardens School Board meeting was packed Tuesday as the board was expected to make a decision regarding the status of the superintendent.
Dr. Henry Williams’ alleged financial indiscretions include payments to personal accounts with district funds.
It was standing room only inside the board room at the Riverview Gardens School District and the superintendent was a no show. A spokesperson says Henry Williams was having heart trouble.
Williams has been under fire for allegedly mismanaging district funds. A state audit of the district will be released on Thursday.
At the end of the meeting, the board went into executive session for a personnel matter. After returning 90 minutes later, Hester said any action the board took would be made public within 72 hours.
Board member Tommy Pierson first called for Henry Williams to be fired last year. Pierson said he couldn’t comment on what action the board took but he did say he was pleased with the direction the district was headed.
