According to the Associated Press Former Missouri state Sen. Jeff Smith, former State Rep. Steve Brown and Smith’s 2004 campaign treasurer, Nick Adams, will go before U.S. District Judge Carol Jackson this morning to be sentenced in federal court in an obstruction of justice case.
Smith pleaded guilty in August to two federal counts of obstruction of justice tied to his failed 2004 congressional campaign.
Brown, who aided Smith’s campaign, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to obstruct justice. The two Democrats later resigned. Adams pleaded guilty to two counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice.
