Monday night, the Jennings City Council voted to hire county police and dissolve its own department.

The St. Louis County police chief revealed that all qualifying Jennings officers will be hired by the county, so it is possible that all current officers could keep their jobs. The offer is being extended to the 26 current city officers.

The city says the move will save $300,000 a year. Patrols will start March 12.
