Jerrel Dean Nixon, the brother of Lee “The Rose Man” Nixon and one of his successors in selling roses and other sweet items at nightclubs and lounges was tragically killed last night when he was struck by a vehicle on Natural Bridge in north St. Louis.
According to KMOV.com, police have found the car involved in the accident, which was the third fatal wreck on Natural Bridge involving a pedestrian since April.
Police told the news network that Jerrel Nixon, 64, of the 5900 block of Hamilton Terrace, was killed when the 25-year-old suspect allegedly struck him in the 2600 block of Natural Bridge just before midnight.
A witness told police that the suspect vehicle, a 2011 Chrysler 200, was going over the speed limit and ran a red light before fatally hitting the man.
Police told KMOV-TV that the suspect and vehicle did not stay at the accident scene but was located early Monday morning in the area of Natural Bridge and Parnell and is currently in police custody.
Lee Nixon sold roses for 30 years until he was the victim of a homicide in 2008.
