The St. Louis Language Immersion Schools won $1,000 equipment grant for a new playground through a competitive online voting competition sponsored by KaBOOM!, a national non-profit organization dedicated to saving play.

In the “Promote Your Project” video contest, 44 communities worked to create a video that showed the world why they need a new playground. Then, ten were chosen to compete in the finals and encouraged to rally their communities to get the word out. St. Louis Language Immersion Schools, which serve 300 students, rallied supporters to secure 36,135 votes.

St. Louis Language Immersion Schools operates The French School and The Spanish School, two tuition-free elementary campuses with total language immersion curricula. The schools still need to raise $50,000 for their playground.

KaBOOM! Also has posted all its knowledge and playground building experience online at www.kaboom.org.
