Kellogg's Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles recalled

Kellogg Company announced a voluntary recall of approximately 10,000 cases of Kellogg’s Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffles yesterday, because they have the potential to be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. No other Eggo products are impacted by this recall. Missouri and Illinois are among 25 states where the product was distributed to customers and retailers.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

The company has received no reports of illness to date but is taking this action as part of its commitment to the health and safety of the people who eat its foods. The recall is a result of routine tests that the company conducts which identified the potential for contamination.

Recalled product is in 25 states: CO, CT, DE, GA, IA, IL, IN, KS, MA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, ND, NE, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, VA, VT, WI, WY). The affected product is the 12.3 ounce, 10-count, Kellogg Eggo Nutri-Grain Whole Wheat Waffle with the UPC code 38000 40370 (located on the side of the package. The “Better if Used Before” date is Nov21 17 and Nov22 17.
