After many delays the McKinley Bridge will open to traffic Monday, December 17th according to IDOT officials.
The bridge, which was a toll bridge before, will no longer have tolls.
The bridge connects I-70 and Salisbury in Missouri to Route 3 in Illinois.
The 6-year-project cost $52 million. Nearly 10,000 cars a day traveled over the bridge before it was shut down.
A bicycle path is expected to open in 2008.
The bridge opened in 1910, and was named after railroad magnate William Brown McKinley.
