(CNN) — Eric Casebolt — the police corporal in McKinney, Texas, who was shown in a video that went viral over the weekend yanking a 14-year-old bikini-clad girl to the ground and kneeling on her back — has resigned, Casebolt’s attorney said.
The video of the police response to reports of fighting at a pool party sparked criticism of the department and allegations of racism.The actions of Eric Casebolt, the police corporal shown in a video responding to reports of fighting at a pool party in McKinney, Texas, were “indefensible,” the city’s police chief said in a news conference Tuesday announcing the corporal’s resignation.
“Our policies, our training, our practice, do not support his actions,” Police Chief Greg Conley said. “He came into the call out of control, and as the video shows, was out of control during the incident.”
