The St. Louis Chapter of The Links, Incorporated recently hosted its My Sister's Keeper mentoring group to an evening of the arts at The Black Rep. The 26 high school and college students attended “Tell Me Somethin’ Good” at the Edison Theatre on the campus of Washington University and discussed the production during a reception afterward.

ST. LOUIS –October 31, 2016 – Members of The Links, Incorporated from around the Midwest will join St. Louis area Links members for a weekend of friendship and community service for local women veterans Nov. 4-6.

The highlight of the weekend is “Honoring Our St. Louis Area Sheroes,” a community resource program that will be held from 8-10 a.m. Saturday, November. 5, the Frontenac Hilton, 1335 S. Lindbergh Blvd.

The event is chaired by the St. Louis (MO), Gateway (IL), and Archway (MO) chapters of The Links, Incorporated, in collaboration with St. Patrick Center, The Veterans Administration St. Louis Health Care System, and American Legion St. Louis Service Women’s Post 404.

Established in 1946, The Links, Incorporated is one of the nation’s oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of extraordinary women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry. The organization has five programs facets in the areas of Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, International Trends and Services, and Health and Human Services.

Local attorneys, mental health, medical, and financial professionals who are members of The Links, Incorporated, will facilitate “sister talk” roundtable discussions with homeless women veterans regarding the legal, health, and money challenges that these women face as part of the programming.

The Links will also present 200 gift bags to the St. Louis Service Women’s Post 404 to support homeless female veterans who receive services year-round from St. Patrick Center. Some of those gift bags along with books will be given to women veterans and active duty female military at Scott Air Force Base who part of the Wounded Warriors Program.

“Sheroes” is a new initiative of the Central Area of The Links, Incorporated, which is comprised of 15 Midwest states. Under the initiative, Central Area Links members will collaborate with businesses and nonprofits to link both active and veteran military women to the opportunities, resources, and support services available to them in their city and state.
