On Sunday, Muhammad Mosque #28 on West Florissant was filled to capacity with people from local and surrounding areas, from ministers to local aldermen – all there to see Minister Louis Farrakhan dedicate a new mosque in St. Louis.

β€œSt. Louis is a great city. You are one of the greatest cities of warriors,” Minister Farrakhan said.

Minister Farrakhan offered encouraging words to the St. Louis community in dedicating Muhammad Mosque #28. He addressed community issues, including how the church is not helping those in need and how youth are being rebellious to their elders.

β€œYou become so self-righteous you become judgmental,” Minister Farrakhan said.

β€œLet’s go after our people. This life is what we should be concerned about –how we treat one another.”

Minister Farrakhan focused on how youth have changed over time. He suggested that adults change their ways to reach out to the youth.

β€œYou want to use nature the way God wanted it to be used. How do we get in the mind and correct our thinking?” Minister Farrakhan said.

β€œYour duty is to discover what He gave you. Where’s your armor in protecting yourself from Satan?”

Minister Farrakhan described the mosque as engaged in a spiritual war for the soul of the community.

β€œThis mosque is for dropouts and the unemployed. We are looking for soldiers to go to war with Satan,” Minister Farrakhan said.

β€œThis house is dedicated to destroy Satan’s world. This house has to be dedicated to the lives of our people.”

The ceremony opened with Minister Ralph Muhammad of East St. Louis Mosque #28B thanking the community for their support and thanking everyone who traveled from many places to hear Minister Farrakhan.

β€œWe must be thankful for all we have. We have a place for prayer and a place of lecture,” Minister Ralph Muhammad said.

Minister Donald Muhammad has been working in the St. Louis area and running Muhammad Mosque #28 for 30 years. In introducing Minister Farrakhan, he was overwhelmed by the turnout and β€œthe fact that people came and their eyes, ears and hearts were open to hear.”

The ceremony ended with St. Louis Aldermen Gregory J. Carter of the 27th Ward and Samuel L. Moore of the 4th Ward giving Minister Farrakhan a proclamation from the City of St. Louis.

Before and after the ceremony, Minister Farrakhan spoke with many of the brothers about how important Muhammad Mosque #28 is to the St. Louis community.

β€œGo after our people,” Minister Farrakhan told Minister Donald Muhammad.

Minister Akbar Muhammad, International Representative for the Nation of Islam, was moved by how Minister Farrakhan stressed the importance of the mosque to the community. Akbar said the large turnout for the dedication shows β€œthe ability to come along together without the egos.”

Anthony Shahid, founder of the Tauheed Youth Group, was glad that Minister Farrakhan spoke at a mosque in a St. Louis neighborhood that is considered very dangerous. Shahid said he knew the people of St. Louis want a change due to the big turnout at the dedication ceremony.

β€œAs a brother, we have to go to the community, give a better direction. The minister brought us a message,” Shahid said.

Minister Farrakhan told Shahid, β€œPut more emphasis on the small people.”
