Kingdom House now has $195,897 in State tax credits through Missouri’s Youth Opportunities Program, administered by the Department of Economic Development.
Kingdom House is a community center for at-risk youth providing programming for St. Louis City youth ages 6 to 21 that promotes positive growth and development.
YOP tax credits are allocated to organizations administering positive youth development or crime prevention projects that have been approved through an application process.
Approved organizations secure contributions from their community, and the contributor receives tax credits for those contributions.
Kingdom House said it will use the credits to help fund its programs for approximately 650 youth, including employment skills training, paid internships, financial literacy, college preparatory skills, drug and alcohol prevention, Afterschool Programming, Summer Day Camp and Organized Youth Sports.
“By assisting quality community centers like Kingdom House as they carry out their crucial mission, we can ensure that more Missouri young people have a pathway to rewarding, successful careers,” Gov. Jay Nixon said when announcing the tax credits at the center, located at 1321 So. 11th St.
