St. Louis area mothers are expected to gather at the Ward Chapel AME Church in Florissant on Sunday, November 9 at 6:00 pm for a time of prayer and reflection in preparation for the grand jury announcement. The group continues its call for justice on behalf of Michael Brown, and to call for an end to all gun violence around our region.
Mothers are asked to bring new hats, scarves and gloves that can be donated to people in need.
Homicides in St. Louis city are up twenty percent from 2013, and are on track to break previous records. We believe that mothers can help end the violence in our region, and are calling on them to get involved. Mothers who have lost a child to violence are asked to bring his/her picture to the service.
This event has been organized by three local pastors and a professor: Rev. Karen Anderson (Ward Chapel AME), Rev. Traci Blackmon (Christ the King UCC), Rev. Rebecca Ragland (Episcopal Church of Holy Communion) and Dr. Leah Gunning Francis (Eden Seminary).
Sunday, November 9 at 6:00 pm at Ward Chapel AME Church, 11410 Old Halls Ferry Rd, Florissant, MO.
