Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis has named a new president. Richard Liekweg will oversee the hospital at its locations in the city and in west St. Louis County. He will also serve as a group president of parent company BJC HealthCare.
Barnes-Jewish is Missouri’s biggest hospital. Liekweg’s appointment was announced Monday and takes effect Sept. 14.
Liekweg comes to St. Louis after six years as CEO and associate vice chancellor for the University of California, San Diego Medical Center.
He succeeds Dr. Andrew Ziskind, who has served as Barnes-Jewish president for four years. Ziskind will serve BJC HealthCare as vice president overseeing preparations for health care reform.
