The 15-year-old by charged with the murder of rookie Officer Norvelle Brown will appear in court today where it will be determined whether he will be tried as an adult.

He is scheduled to go before Judge Thomas J. Frawley in St. Louis City’s family court. The hearing took place at 9 a.m. in Division 15, at the Civil Courts Building.

Frawley will hear evidence from both sides, but the judge does not expect to rule today.

Brown, 22, was shot and killed on killed Aug. 15 as he apparently tried to detain the suspect and two other teens for questioning in the 1600 block of Semple Avenue.

Police say the teen shot Brown because he didn’t want to be detained.
